Stay: Live in Tobetsu, Countryside and City options for Housing.
If you've visited Tobetsu, or just particularly like the sound of it, and want to explore the opportunities to live in this wonderful town, we here present two of our suggested providers.
Tobetsu Countryside Housing

Tobetsu Denen Jutaku
For those who want to experience life in rural Japan, Tobetsu Countryside Housing (Tobetsu Denen Jutaku 当別田園住宅), is perfect. Developing land for real estate in Hokkaido's countryside, they use locally sourced wood, encourage energy saving passive ventilation systems through good insulation, airtightness and ventilation, rather than the use of machines, and make efforts to integrate new residents into the local community.
They own a section of old railroad with the forested hills behind it and the flat plains of farmland ahead, on which clients can choose where they'd like their house to be built.
They do offer clients to move into existing properties, but their speciality is new builds, designed in close consultation with the client. Their designs are stunning. Residents have their own gardens, and often talk of the sense of community between neighbours, beautiful nature, and tranquil quiet.

TG Homes
Also featured in the Where to Stay section of our Visit page, these cosy apartments in Tobetsu city each accommodate 2 people. TGS Homes have rooms for short term holidaymakers, but they also offer long term accommodation for renters. The location is fairly central: a 12-minute walk from the station, itself only 40 minutes from Sapporo station.
These Tobetsu apartments would be ideal for both people commuting to Sapporo and those who wish to base themselves in Tobetsu city because of its own charms. Given that you can stay there for both the short and long term, it is possible to do a shorter stay to see if you would like it before committing to longer term renting.
It is very close to all the relevant conveniences, be that a school, a convenience store, or local restaurants. The kitchens are spacious and pleasant and each flat has its own washing machine.
